Exploration for Non-Explorers Basics, Technology, Best Practices
Instructor: Steve Meyer; Friday 22 April 2016, 9.00 – 17.00 hrs, KIVI NIRIA building, Prinsessegracht 23, The Hague.
Outline:
The details of exploration can be quite murky, even to those dealing with it on a day to day to basis. It is possible though, to have the whole process of exploration explained in a clear, concise and relatively non-technical way.
This one day workshop will lead participants through the fundamentals of the sub-surface, including a quick geological introduction, then go on to petroleum accumulations and how they occur. This is followed by the methodology of searching for potential accumulations, and how risk and probabilities can be used to control exposure to uncertainty. There will be exercises and examples to help drive home the points being made.
Who Should Attend:
The “Basics – Technology – Best Practice” format of this workshop is aimed both at industry entrants seeking relevant knowledge within their discipline, as well as at seasoned E&P professionals seeking to broaden their technological skills. This course particularly aims at technical staff who are new to the exploration-side of the industry or non-technical staff from functions such as HR, legal, commercial, finance, tax, business, planning or HSE working for exploration projects. In addition, for students this is an ideal opportunity to look into state-of-the-art industry technology with real-life examples, and to sharpen their competitive edge.
